Kundapur, 11 Apr 2013: The local BJP leader Mani Gopal who was ticket aspirant to contest from Kundapur legislative assembly constituency for the upcoming assembly elections, resigned for his party membership since he was not issued party ticket.
In spite of Mani Gopal had contested in the assembly elections for five times in Kundapur and Byndoor legislative assembly constituency, he did not win at all. He hoped to contest the elections for the sixth time this year. Meanwhile, since Mani Gopal was irked by the party bosses who have issued the ticket to Kishore Kumar to contest the assembly elections, he resigned for his party membership.
Mani Gopal began his career as Congress party activist, while he contested for the first time in assembly elections against Sanjeev Shetty in Kundapur assembly constituency during 1978. He contested as independent candidate against Congress party candidate Pratapchandra Shetty in 1983 and was defeated. He also faced utter defeat s by contesting as Janata Dal candidate in the assembly elections against J S Achar during 1985 and 1989. He migrated to BJP and became chairman of Kundapur Urban Development Authority. He has resentment that he could not realize his aspiration since the Authority did not get sufficient funds to undertake dream projects. BJP has abandoned him and he has deserted the party now.
