Mangalore: Konkani Monthly “Amcho Sandesh” celebrates 20th Anniversary

Mangalore, 07 Apr 2013: Twentieth Anniversary of the Konkani monthly “Amcho Sandesh” published by the Catholic Sabha  and felicitation to the former editors and writers was held at Rosario Hall,  Mangalore on 7th April 2013. The function was inaugurated by Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza,  Bishop of Mangalore. Dr Edward Nazareth noted Konkani writer and Rev Fr J B Crasta spiritual director of the Catholic Sabha were the guests of honour. During the programme past editors were feliciteted by the Bishop. They are Mr Louis Almeida( editor for 7 years), Dr Gerald Pinto ( Editor for 6 years), Mr Jerry Peter Rodrigues( one year), Mr. Rymond D Cunha ( 2 yrs) and George Ligory Douza ( 3 years). Mr Eddi Netto noted Konkani writer who completed 75  years of his age was also felicitated.

 

 

In the morning there was a symposium on Christians and Journalism. Mr Gabriel Vaz, former Editor of the Economics Times, Dr Ronald Fernandes,  Bureau chief of the Deccan Herald, Mangalore and Mr Hemachraya, editor of Daiji World Weekly were resource persons and Mr Walter Cyril Pinto was the moderator.

 

Mr Nigil Preira,  president of the Catholic Sabha presided over symposium. Convener of the programme was Mr George Ligoury D Souza. Editor MR Wilfred Lobo and  secretary Mrs Flavy D Souza organised the programme.
