Udupi, 6 Apr 2013: The BJP bosses finally decided not to issue party ticket to MLA Raghupati Bhat whose reputation is in shambles owing to an alleged sex- CD, instead issued to the long time rebellion B Sudhakar Shetty to contest in the upcoming legislative assembly election.
Raghupati Bhat on Friday April 5, suggested the name of Sudhkar Shetty to BJP bosses who have officially announced the latter’s candidature.
Earlier, Raghupati Bhat had said to media persons and also to party bosses that he would contest the upcoming elections owing to the alleged sex-CD. The newly-elected BJP state president Prahlad Joshi also repeated the same. The party bosses D V Sadanand Gowda, Anant Kumar, R Ashok and others supported the candidature of rebellion Sudhakar on the basis of recommendation from Raghupati.
The opposition party Congress tried the trump card of rave party issue to win the recently held civic polls for Udupi municipal council. I would not give such an opportunity to capitalize on sex-CD issue to defeat BJP in the upcoming legislative assembly elections. I would not flee from elections, instead I will make every effort in winning BJP candidate Sudhakar Shetty – said Raghupati Bhat.
Raghupati Bhat is not contesting the elections, owing to sex-CD episode. I had contested the elections twice in the past. I will utilize the political experience of Raghupati during election campaign. BJP will surely win the upcoming elections - said BJP candidate B Sudhakar Shetty.
