Udupi: Way of the cross held at Pangla parish with devotion

Shankerpura/Udupi, 29 March 2013: To commemorate the death of Jesus Christ Christians all over the world celebrate Good Friday. It is a day of fast, penance and sacrifice. Jesus gave his life to save the mankind from sin and misery. On this special services are held all over the globe in churches beginning with Holy Hour and Way of the Cross proceeding with Veneration of the cross and finally all congregation kiss the cross and proceed to their homes and wait for the resurrection of Jesus from death on Easter Sunday. This day all Catholics strictly observe fast and engage in good deeds and sacrifices.
In Pangala Parish of Shankerpura (Udupi) the Way of the Cross was held at School Grounds at 10 a.m. Huge number of Devotees joined the walking pilgrimage on this day of fast, prayer, penance and abstinence. A few members of congregation carried the wooden cross across 15 stations of the cross. The way of the cross was led by Parish Priest Rev.Fr Leslie D’Souza along with Rev. Fr Vincent Coelho .
The veneration of the cross and other Good Friday services will be held later in the evening.
Good Friday observed in Pangala Parish with great devotion
Shankerpura/Udupi, 30 March 2013: Good Friday is the day of fast, penance and observed all over Mangalore/Udupi Diocese with great devotion with all day services beginning with Way of the Cross in the morning session but afternoon sessions are very long, prayerful, liturgical services, Word of the Lord, Veneration, passion of Christ and kissing of Cross.
Pangala Parish of Udupi Diocese also observed the Good Friday with devotion attending the services at St. John Evangelist Church. A large number of devotees assembled here on Friday to observe Good Friday.The ceremonies began at 5.30. pm, led by Rev. fr. Leslie D’Souza & Rev. Fr. Vincent Coelho. The ceremonies included unveiling of the Cross, prayers for intentions, veneration of the Cross, In his homily, Rev. Fr. Vincent Coelho stressed upon the importance of giving oneself to others the way Jesus did to follow his comandments especially of Command of Love one Another which is the center of Christian Life. He also narrated in detail the meaning of passion of Christ.
