Udupi: Padubelle Friends Set an Example by Contributing for Welfare of Humanity

Udupi, 28 Mar 2013: Padubelle Friends, a group of youngsters of Padubelle, near here shown the way, a committed youth with social concern can do wonders in uplifting the downtrodden in the society.

 

Come Sunday, a few boys and youngsters in every village venture out to a plain area, with country-made bats, a cap on their head and a tennis ball.  Just a few yards of open space is sufficient to play the cricket and enjoy the summer holidays, while in the process drain youth energy and money.  A few enterprising youngsters gather funds from general public, and organize flood-lit limited over cricket tourney, wasting money on sound systems.  There are a few wealthy men who volunteer to sponsor this tourneys spending a few lac of rupees.

 

 

Meanwhile, as an exception to this, Padubelle Friends, a group of youth from Padubelle, near here who are committed to social welfare activities, have shown the way how to bring happiness in the lives of downtrodden in the society.  Leslie Alva, a native of Padubelle spearheaded the establishing of Padubelle Friends with likeminded youth in his locality.  They were organizing tourneys on Sundays at their neighbourhood.  The funds that they collected were spent on renovating the tiled-roof house of poor daily wager Baby Serigarti.

 

The Friends donated a wheel-chair to physically handicapped fourteen-year-old Yashupriya, son of T Babu, a local resident of Padubelle, with the help of the renowned social activist Nityanand Olakadu.  The Friends also donated cots and mattresses to physically disabled Deepa, daughter of Dogra Moolya, a native of Padubelle and also to poor daily wager and senior citizen Seetamma Padubelle.  The rest of the money was handed over to groceries to Pastor Sunil, chief trustee of Vishwasada Mane, an orphanage, in order to feed the inmates.

 

The social activist Krishnamurti Acharya, Udupi taluk Jana Jagruti Samiti president social activist Shankarapura Naveen Amin, Padubelle Bailumane Vittal Shetty, Prakash Shetty Padubelle, Raghu Salian, Abdul Rehman Manipur, organizer Leslie, Padubelle Raghu Poojary, Bhaskar Poojary, Sudarshan, Ayyappa, Manohar and others were involved in this yeomen service to the humanity.

 

At a time, when many youth organize tourneys and gather substantial amounts that they spend on parties among themselves, Padubelle Friends set an example to others how a little money can be well spent for the welfare of humanity!
