Dubai: Curtain Raiser programme for the Konkani Mega Quiz by Karaval Milan, Dubai

Dubai, 28 Mar 2013: It was a evening with difference, a new experience to the gathering. Karaval Milan Dubai, the United forum for the Parishioners of Udupi District had done a curtain raiser for their up coming event Konkani Mega Quiz and Konkani Drama
“Shimti Nathllo Kolo”.

 

Programme was started with a prayer song lead by Mr Rony Byndoor. Mr Frank Fernandes – MD, Mosaco Shipping, Mr Joseph Mathias – MD, Merit Fright Shipping, Mr James Mendonca – MD, Reliable Fabricators, Mr Herman Lewis – CEO, Radio Spice -105.4 FM and Mr Henry D Paula – Editor, Kutam Weekly were present on the dias along with Karaval Milan Director Mr Wilson D’Sa and President  Mr Naveen Sequeira.

 

Mr Wilson D’Sa welcomed the guests and the gathering. In his short note he had requested the support for this mega event  from the well wishers for its success.

 

Specially designed web portal exclusively for this programme www.konkaniquiz.com was dedicated to Konkan Community by Mr Herman Lewis.

 

 

 

Karaval Milan president Mr Naveen Sequeira gave a brief history note of Karaval Milan since its birth 13 years back. He also informed about the various programmes conducted by Karaval Milan both in UAE as well as in Udupi Dist. He has given a detail concept of Konkani Mega Quiz which will be of its first kind in this part of the world. He informed the gathering that Karaval Milan always has given the Ist preference to our mother tongue Konkani in different ways. To give something new to UAE audience, Karaval Milan has decided to take this bold step of presenting Mega Quiz. This Quiz will be held in two stages. Elimination rounds will be held on 12the April, and the final round will be on May 17th at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium – Dubai followed by a social moral play  of Late Mr Sunny A D Souza “Shimti Nathullo Kolo”. He also informed that to make the task easy to participants model questionnaires will be posted in www.konkaniquiz.com on every Monday  from Ist week of April till the Ist week of May and requested participants to make the good use of it.

 

Mr Frank Fernandes made the curtain raiser for the Konkani Drama “Shimti Nathullo Kolo” and Mr Joseph Mathias given a blessed start to drama by opening the plot books and handing over it to the Director of the drama Mr Sannu Monis. Director Sannu Monis gave a brief talk on the drama and informed that this drama will give a beautiful moral to the people who leaving behind their children and going abroad for green pastures. He called on his team to the stage and given a brief introduction of artists. Every artist as given a short dialogue of their respective characters to the audience which was well appreciated. Ms Adlin DSouza, Mr Lionel Monthero, Mr Stany Kemmannu(Bulla), Mr Sannu Monis, Mrs Janet Sequeira, Mr Pius James D Souza and Nanu Marol Thottam will enthrall the audience in this drama.

 

Karaval Milan had a special guest for the event. Mr Henry D Paula – Editor of Kutam Konkani weekly and also happened to be very good close friend of Late Mr Sunny A D Souza. He in his speech explained his deep and long relationship with Karaval Milan. He has given a brief profile of Late Mr Sunny A Douza. He also informed that it was Late Mr Sunny A D Souza’s dream that his dramas should be played in different corners of the world and by selecting his Drama he will be really happiest person in the heaven and will bless Karaval Milan abundently from heaven. He had given his various experiences with Late Sunny A D Souza and Mr Sunny’s contribution to  literature and cultural activities specially in Mumbai.

 

Mr Herman Lewis in his speech applauded the efforts and risk taken by Karaval Milan for organizing this event. He has shared his vast experience and encouraged Karaval Milan to go ahead and not to look back and assured his full support. He has also given the various suggestions on Mega Quiz.

 

Mr Frank Fernandes in presidential address wished all the very best to Karaval Milan and informed that it’s everybody’s right to respect their mother tongue and by doing so in this part of the world with this mega event and mega quiz Karaval Milan has raised their standards high. He called upon all the well wishers to support Karaval Milan in their noble cause. He also given some of his life experiences with humours and words of wisdom in Kannada.

 

Represantatives of 27 Association in UAE were present. They cleared their doubts regarding mega quiz in question answer session and their questions were ably answered Mr Naveen Sequeira.

 

Programme was ended with vote of thanks by Karaval Milan Director Mr Rony Byndoor who also compered this programme beautifully and followed by dinner.
