Dubai: Karaval Milan’s ‘Konkani Mega Quiz’ Finals on May 17

Dubai, 23 Mar 2013: When creativity blends with commitment, the outcome cannot be anything less than the best and when the collective commitment of individuals gels together miracles do occur. Karaval Milan, the united cultural forum for the parishioners of Udupi district residing in the UAE is a hub of such creativity, innovation and experiments. Ever since its inception; the popular Karaval Milan has made it a point to blend creativity with commitment in dishing out some of the most memorable and ever-cherishing events in UAE. This is why Karaval Milan is a novelty rather than a mere organization.

Karaval Milan has become a trendsetter in the cultural and sports activities in the UAE with their constant improvisation over the years.

 

 

About Konkani Quiz:

Keeping this tradition of setting trends alive, Karaval Milan has come out with a novel and first-of-its-kind programme in the form of ‘Konkani Mega Quiz’ scheduled to be held on May 17, 2013 at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium. The event is aimed at spreading knowledge through entertainment.

The Quiz competition will give a glimpse of the rich heritage and culture of Konkani. A well-known distinguished personality from Mangalore will be “Quiz Master” at the mega finals. Managing committee of KM has made clear that there is no need to do extensive study or refer volumes of books for this event. ‘The person who speaks pure Konkani at his home should be the winner’, is the prime agenda of the organisers. The quiz is based on everyday life thro’ Konkani and whatever situations, things a person can goes through during the course of the day.  The contest will also consist of fun and entertainment rounds which will keep the participants on tenterhooks throughout.

 
Managing Committee of Karaval Milan requests all the Mangalorean associations based in the UAE to enroll their teams for this Konkani mega quiz event and make May 17, 2013 a memorable one.

It should also be noted that this trendsetting mega event will be followed by a social moral Konkani play “Shimti Nathllo Kolo” which will be enacted by Karaval Milan members. The play is written by Sunny D’Souza and directed by Sannu Monis. This play is worth watching by all working and residing in the Gulf leaving their families and near and dear ones behind for long.

General Rules & Regulations for the Konkani quiz:
1. Only team entries are eligible. Any Konkani speaking association with at least 1 year existence in UAE can participate. (In case legal issues, a letter may be expected from the Parish Priest or concerned authorities to prove their existence).
2. A team shall consist of max two persons (a male and a female each).
3. The decision of the quiz-master will be final and will not be subjected to any change.
4. The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile phones or other electronic instruments.
5. The questions shall be in the form of multiple choice, True / False statements,  specific-answer questions etc.
6. Audience shall not give any hints or clues to the contestants.
7. Replacement of any team is not allowed after registration except on medical/legal reasons.
8. Teams selected for the final rounds will be allowed to give themselves an appropriate name related to the competition by which they may want to be known.
9. Registration fees AED 200 only. (10 tickets are free for the programme).
10. Spreading knowledge thro’ entertainment is the main aim of this show.
Note: The quiz is based on everyday life thro’ Konkani and whatever situations, things a person can goes through during the course of the day.  The contest will also consist of fun and entertainment rounds which will keep the participants on tenterhooks throughout. One week before the final round teams will be given some demo rehearsal about the final show.  Rules & Regulations of the final show too will be made known in due course.

 

ELIMINATION ROUND – (In case more than 4 teams register)
1. Each team would be given a set of question paper (or oral – depending on the quiz master’s decision) containing 25 multiple choice, objective type / True or false, or one sentence each questions.
2. Time limit - 30 minutes
3. Only 4 Teams would be selected for STAGE ROUNDS
4. In case of tie between 2 or more teams, further 5 questions would be asked for final selection
5. The selected teams shall have to appear for the final round

Last Date for registering the names is April 10, 2013 (only 15 entries will be taken).
Elimination rounds will be held on April 12, 2013 at Fortune Plaza Hotel, Al Ghusais.
