Udupi: District Records 74.99 Percent Voters Turn-out in Civic Polls

Udupi, 08 Mar 2013: The voters across Udupi district proved that they have earnest interest in franchising their valuable votes here during the civic polls held in 4 town councils on Thursday March 7.
The voting turn-out registered during civic polls was in an average of 74.99 percent. When compared to civic polls held in last term it was excellent. It was during the last civic polls held in 2007, the voters turn-out recorded was 65.44 percent. This year voters’ turn-out recorded 10 percent increase.
It was during the last civic polls held in 2007, Udupi municipal council recorded voters’ turn-out of 61.38 percent, Kundapur town council – 66.45 percent, Saligrama town panchayat – 68.37 percent and Karkal town council – 65.59 percent.
The voters were arriving on Thursday March 7 early morning at different polling centers in large numbers to cast their valuable votes. The youth including elderly were also arriving with the help of their family members in large numbers.
The hike in voters turn-out proved that the voters have strong faith in democracy.
