Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada District Records Voters-Turnout of 66.24 Percent in Civic Polls

Mangalore, 07 Mar 2013: The civic polls that was held across Dakshina Kannada district including Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) was rather peaceful except of a few incidents.  The voters turnout recorded was 66.24 percent, out of a total number of voters 4,63,791 voters, 3,07,537 voters cast their votes during civic polls.

 
Out of a total number of voters 3,22,293 in 60 wards of MCC, 2,07,070 voters cast their votes that amounted to 64.25 percent voters turn-out.  A few minor incidents in polling centers were eased by the police.  Kannur ward number 52 of MCC recorded the highest voters’ turnout – 75.75 percent, while Bendore ward number 38 recorded the least voters turnout – 47.35 percent.

 
At the civic polls in Bantwal town council, out of total voters 28,260, only 21,504 voters cast their votes that accounted to 76.09 percent voters’ turnout.  The ward number 3 of Korangrarabettu accounted the highest voters’ turnout and ward number 23 of Panemangalore accounted the lowest voters turnout of 58.09 percent.
 

 


At the civic polls held in Puttur town council, out of total voters 34,382, 24,489 voters exercised their franchisee that accounted voters turnout of 71.23 percent.  Padnoor ward recorded highest voters’ turnout of 86.78 percent and Puttur – Kasaba ward number 10 accounted the lowest of 60 percent.

 
At the civic polls held in Ullal town panchayat, out of total voters 38,015, 26,741 voters cast their votes that accounts to 70.08 percent of voters turnout.  Krishna Nagar ward number 17 recorded the highest voters’ turnout 80.09 percent and Mogaveerapatna ward number 3 accounted for lowest voters’ turnout of 63.12 percent.
 

At the civic polls held in Beltangady town panchayat, out of total voters 5,390, 4,069 voters cast their votes that accounts to 75.49 percent voters turnout.  Hunsekatte ward number 9 recorded the highest voters’ turnout of 82.02 percent and fourth ward accounted for lowest voters’ turnout at 66.98 percent.
 

At the civic polls held in Sullia town panchayat, out of total voters 12,133 voters, 9,718 voters cast their votes that accounts to 80.01 percent.  Duggaladka ward number 1 recorded the highest voters’ turnout of 87.01 percent and Borugudde ward number 17 recorded the lowest voters turnout of 66.1 percent.


It is general pursued that the voters wanted a change in governance owing to lapses of civic body that reigned till announcement of civic polls recently.  Meanwhile, one has to wait for final results on Monday March 11.
