Udupi: Akashvani is a folk University; Swami Vishwavallabha Theerta of Sode Mutt

Udupi, 06 March 2013: Along with education Akashvani provides the ability of judging the good and bad. Because of its riels folk tradition it is nothing but a folk University said Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Shri Sode Vadijara Shri Krishna Mutt, Udupi.
He was speaking after inaugurating the “Yakshavaibhava” at Udupi where the members of ‘Hande Yakshavrunda’ Kota presented ‘Shyamanthopaakhyana’ yakshagana performance.
Though Akashvani is a media it functions more than that. Not only information and education but it provides the ability of judgment to the people, he said.
Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna, a yakshagana Guru of Udupi participated as chief guest. He applauded the contribution of Mangalore Akashvani for its contribution towards yakshagana.
Dr. Vasanthkumar Perla, Programme Head presided over the function in his presidential address he said Mangalore Akashvani is striving hard to nurture and preserve the art, culture and literature of the area. Apart from this AIR is contributing for business and industry, administration, science and technology, medicine, health and hygiene, agriculture and animal husbandry and so on. The invited audience programme are intended to reach the public directly. Such programmes bring near the Radio Station with the public, he said.
Sri H. Shridhara Hande performed prayer through a yakshagana song. Dr. Sadananda Perla, Transmission Executive compered the programme while Sadananda Holla, Programme Executive welcomed the gathering. Shri K. Ashok, Transmission Executive gave vote of thanks.
After the inaugural function the members of Hande Yakshavruda, Kota performed “Shyamanthakopaakhyana” a yakshagana prasanga. Large gathering came from in and around Udupi including foreigners witnessed the programme.
