Udupi: Burglars Strike a House in Mullagudde, Ucchila; Decamp Jewellery worth Few Lakhs

Udupi, 05 Mar 2013: The burglars who were well aware that the landlady of the house was away to her parent’s house, burgled her house and decamped with jewellery and valuables worth a few lakhs of rupees being reported from Padubidri, near here on Tuesday March 5.

 
Poornima, wife of Manjunat, residing in Mullagudde, Ucchila – Bada village, near here had gone to her parent’s house located at Kaipunjal, Kaup, near here along with her children on Sunday March 3.

 
Poornima had given the house keys with the neighbor – a youngster and also informed him that they are away for a few days.  Meanwhile, the youngster informed her to take all her jewellery because he has to go to attend Nemotsav, a religious celebrations in the neighbourhood.

 

 
When the youngster arrived on Monday March 4 morning, he found the front door broken and locks of two cupboards were broken.  He at once called Poornima and informed about the burglary.

 
Poornima lodged a complaint of burglary with Padubidri police.

 
The burglars decamped with a small mangalsutra, husband’s gold chain, and children’s ear rings; altogether jewellery worth 9 sovereign pounds, informed Poornima to media persons.

 
Kaup circle inspector Shivanand Valikar, Padubidri sub-inspector Mahadev Shetty, Kaup crime department officer Rajendra Nayak, fingerprints experts from district headquarter arrived on the spot.

The burglars who knew that Poornima was away for a few days, broke open the house on Sunday night itself, and decamped with gold jewellery but placed the fake gold ornaments.  A few pieces of woman’s bangles were found besides the cupboard that proves she was one among the burglars involved in this burglary.  The burglars left behind a keychain.  A freshly used condom was found near the house that proves the burglars used the house for immoral activities.
