Mangalore, 20 Feb 2013: Samanvaya, city based NGO organized one-day workshop on Seize the Day at their hall, Urva Store, here on Tuesday February 19 for the less privileged inmates of Prashant Nivas and Spandana Trust.
‘Seize the day is a unique event for the less fortunate children of Mangalore. While the others get a lot of opportunities to explore their dreams the less fortunate are forced into a life of low self esteem,’ said Prisca D’Costa, the event coordinator. ‘Through this event, we want to boost their self esteem and let them know that they also have the right to dream big,’ added Prisca D’Costa.
RJ Vishwas of BIG FM, Pranav Prabhu and RJ Vishwas were the resource persons touched upon the areas of leadership and self esteem. They tried to make the children get over their fears. RJ Vishwas said that there are ample opportunities today and yet people are afraid to chase their dreams. Pranav Prabhu boosted the children to dream big and overcome their fears.
‘This one day workshop was very helpful for the children,’ said Genevieve, teacher at Spandana trust. ‘We can offer them only classroom learning, but here they have learnt things beyond the classroom that will help them in life,’ said Genevieve.
Samanvaya founder Fr Ronald Coutinho presided the valedictory function.
St Aloysius College botany lecturer Professor Sureshnath was the guest of honour.
