Udupi: Peace will Reign by Peaceful Co-existence of People of Different Faith in Society; Swami Sugu

Udupi,16 Feb 2013: The communal violence is attributed to politics exploiting religion. In the contemporary times, religion was controlling the politics. The irony is the politics in the guise of controlling the religion, created mistrust among the different sections of community. Meanwhile, the peace will reign in the society, if the people belonging to different religions come together to work for the welfare of mankind, said Swami Sugunendrateerta of Puttige mutt.
Swami Sugunendrateerta was speaking after inaugurating Brahmakalashotsav – Vedic celebrations and cultural programmes at the historical Durgadevi temple, Kunjarugiri, near here on Thursday February 14.
Swami Vishwapriyateerta in his message said that Goddess Durge is mother of mankind. The Vedic celebrations that are being held in the presence of community men of different faith here indeed conveys brotherhood and communal harmony, said Swami Vishwapriyateerta.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese in his message said that the religions promote peace and co-existence among people of different faith, caste, creed and sect. The religious programme that was held in the temple has set an example of unity in diversity, said Bishop Dr Gerald.
Moodbidri masjid mudarris Moulana Haj B Sufiyan said that the communal disharmony is the result of politicians exploiting people in the guise of faith, caste and creed. All religious worship centers had to promote peace and harmony in the society, said Haj Sufiyan.
ZP member Ida Gilbert D’Souza, TP member Pricilla D’Mello and Kurkalu gram panchayat president Bhuvanesh L Poojary were present at the dais.
Venkataramana Munchintaya welcomed the gathering, Rajendra Rao proposed vote of thanks. Mohandas Shetty and Sudhakar Shetty compered the programme.
