NMC Abu Dhabi toastmasters celebrates 200th Meeting

Abu Dhabi,03 Febraury 2013: Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our membership is 280,000 strong. These members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 13,500 clubs in 116 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations.

Membership in Toastmasters is one of the greatest investments one can make.  It is also one of the most cost-effective skill-building tools available anywhere.  In U.A.E and especially in Abu Dhabi there are several chapters and hundreds of young men and women enrolled to become the greatest leaders of tomorrow.  Loads of skills such as leadership, orators, master of ceremonies, international speakers so on..   among these many clubs or so called chapters NMC is one of the leading Toastmasters club in U.A.E under the banner:  NMC Community Toastmasters Chapter Club.

 

 

This unique club reached an unique milestone last Wednesday as it celebrated its 200th Meeting on 30th January 2013, at the Foodlands Restaurant Building in Abu Dhabi. The President of the Club, Toastmaster Shukku Beker delivered the welcome address. During his speech he shed light on the clubs recent achievements, the Youth Leadership Programme, and opening of a Gavel Club.

 

Dr. BR Shetty, who is also the Patron of the toastmasters in UAE, was the Chief Guest for the evening. He shared his experience on how he initiated the toastmasters’ movement in UAE in the year 1995, and how the movement is instrumental in creating leaders. He was bestowed with the "Appreciation Award" by the president of the club, for his contributions to the toastmaster’s movement and support to the NMC Community Chapter Club, in particular.  Dr. Shetty, later cut the cake to formally start the celebrations of the 200th Meeting.  During the function he inaugurated “NMC Community Gavliers", a gavel club formed for the youngsters between the age group of 12 to 18 years, under the patronage of NMC Community Chapter Club. The Gavel Club will start functioning from 2nd February 2013.

 

DTM Marwan, the Division Governor for toastmasters in Abu Dhabi also attended the function and addressed the gathering. The Past Presidents of the club, MTM Seema Shetty, TM Praveen Rao, TM Santosh Shetty, TM Ashit Korgaokar & TM Mustaq Mohiuddin along with TM Shukku Beker the current President, was felicitated for their contributions. DTM Ravi Rai, a well-wisher of the club was also felicitated.

 

TM Vikas and MTM Lakshmi entertained the audience through their timely humour, as the master of ceremony. The function was well attended by the members of the club, and their immediate family members. The event showcased toastmasters meeting and was followed by cultural activities by members and family.
