Background of the case:
In the first incident, Rama, a close friend of former MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty called Raghavendra Ganiga, personal assistant of minister Kota Srinivas Poojary and abused him at 8.30pm on Monday December 31. The furious Raghavendra sent his friend Krishna to have a word with Rama Poojary at about 10.30pm on Monday. Kota police registered two separate cases, over Raghavendra calling Rama and hurling verbal abuse and Raghavendra assaulting Rama brutally.
As soon as the supporters of the former MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty learnt of Raghavendra assaulting Rama, they arrived at the residence of Raghavendra and began pelting stones on his house, damaging window panes at about 10.30pm on Monday.
Raghavendra lodged complaint with the police that the miscreants robbed 5 sovereign pounds worth jewellery of his wife during the incident.
Meanwhile, some miscreants who arrived on motor cycles also pelted stones on the residence of minister Kota Srinivas Poojary at 12.15am on Tuesday January 1 and also abused the minister when the minister did not come out.
