Mangalore: AIDS awareness workshop at Govt. First Grade College, Haleyangadi

Mangalore, 17 Dec 2012: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of Government First Grade College, Haleyangadi in coordination with Yenepoya University, Yenepoya Medical College and Directorate of Rural Health Care & Development Centre organized an awareness programme on AIDS to spread the awareness message among the younger generation.
Dr. R.N. Sujeer, Director, Directorate of Rural Health Care & Development Centre in his introductory speech informed the students that today’s youth is going to build tomorrow’s future and each one has his/her own responsibility in building a healthy world. At first youth must realize the problem created by HIV virus and their self control is going to be the main solution to the problem.
The Chief Medical Officers Dr. Mohammad Hafeez, Dr. Mohisin and Medical Officer Dr. Harshiya were resource persons who gave information regarding primary prevention and control services, developing an understanding about the infection to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS, strengthening people’s knowledge about the measures to be taken to prevent HIV/AIDS and adopting preventive health habits and lifestyle.
NSS Officer Mr. Santhosh Pinto Shirthady organized and welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Manjula S, HOD, Department of Kannada presided over the function. All the teaching staff and the students attended the programme. Ms. Jyothi proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Latha compeered the programme.
