Mangalore, 10 Dec 2012: The Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) organized Christmas celebration at Bishop Jathanna Auditorium, KACES Campus, Balmatta on December 08, 2012.
Fr. R.S. Kamath began the programme with an invocation and along with the committee members inaugurated the occasion by lighting the lamp. The gathering was welcomed by Mr. Elias Sanctis, vice-president.
On the occasion, KORWA honored Mr. John D’Souza of M/s. M. D’Souza Caterers for his service.
The KORWA Christmas Fest was a big event with an even bigger heart. It was better and more fun than ever before. The creation of this event was to reinforce the spirit of family and to implant the spirit of loving, unity and the joy of giving within children at a young age which is part of the grass root to a development of a country.
Christmas for Children is a channel through which we will like to further express the importance of the spirit of giving in society and education within an ambiance of festivities in the heart. There was dance, games, music, etc. to add a sparkle to the festive season. A hall full of entertainment was available for children from four different orphanages and home for an aged. And to make the atmosphere all the more Christmas-like, there was ’Santa Claus’ too for distributing gifts to the little ones.
Mrs. Jessy Pinto - secretary; Mr. Rohan Monteiro of Rohan Corporation; Mr. David D’Souza - cultural secretary; Professor Hilda Rayappan, Mr. John Fernandes, Mr. Prakash Pinto from Paragon Builders, Mr. Jerald Lobo, Dubai; Dr. Rajneesh Sorake from Sorake Builders, among others were present.
The programme concluded with dinner.
The goal of this event was to give another perspective to the celebration of Christmas.
