Christa Jayanthi Gaanalahari -2012 draws to a close

Mangalore, 03 Dec 2012 : The multi-lingual carol singing contest- Christa Jayanthi Gaanalahari-2012, concluded at St Vincent Ferrer Church grounds, Valencia on December 2, Sunday. Over 700 contestants from different groups took part in the event and rendered melodious carols that kept the audience raptured.
Rhythm of Love, CSI Kanthi Church, Jeppu and Mistletoes Mangalore bagged the first three places respectively in the English carol competition. In the Kannada category, the prizes went to CSI Kanthi Church, Jeppu, CSI Shanthi Cathedral, Balmatta and Holy Cross Church, Cordel. Team Imperialz (R), Mangalore; Holy Cross Church, Cordel and Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail were the winners in the Konkani carol category.
Cash prizes of Rs 15000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7000 were awarded to the first three winners respectively in each category apart from trophies.
BV Pinto, Karnataka High Court Judge, presided over the function. Stephen Mendes, Director of Western Institute of Technology, Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, Parish Priest, Elias Sanctis, NRI entrepreneur, Dr Honey Cabral, principal of KTC, Anil Lobo, President of Catholic Sabha and others were present on the occasion.
A variety of entertainment programmes marked the occasion.’ Memory’ Mangalore presented jokes and comedy show, while the Northeast students from Alva’s College mesmerized the audience through their stick dance.
