Top 12 singers from Qatar qualify for GVOM semifinals

Doha, 14 June 2010: The audition in Doha for the Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010 was held on the 11th of June 2010 at the Indian Cultural Center, which was organized by Mangalore Cultural Association Doha Qatar. The program began at 4.45 pm with the MCA anthem followed by the Welcome by Harry Lobo, the President of MCA. The event was inaugurated in a Traditional manner by lighting the lamp by Fr. Anand Castelino along with the Advisory Committee members Felix Lobo, Wilfred Fernandes & Joachim D’Souza and President Harry Lobo. 16 Enthusiastic Singers had registered themselves for the auditions.

It was a difficult task to select 12 out of them as all were good and most of them new to the Gulf Voice of Mangalore. The Judges for the evening were Mr. Norbert Pereira, Mrs. Veena Rebimbus Pais and Fr. Anand Castelino all three well established and renowned in the field of Music and Singing. Benjamin Rebeiro, Gen. Secretary of MCA, introduced the Judges to the audience and Fr. Anand spoke a few words of advice to the Singers. Certificate of Participation were distributed to all participants by Norbert Pereira and Fr. Anand Castelino.

Vice President, Jason Quadros thanked all who had put in their efforts to make this program a success, Cultural Secretary Arthur Pais conducted the Competition and declared the results; Dorothy Quadros was the master of the Ceremony. The following 12 best singers have been selected as the Semifinalists from Qatar for the Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010.

3. Jovita Pereira
4. Eva Wilma Pinto
5. Sunitha Tellis
6. Prameela Monteiro

Male Category

1. Naveen Pinto
2. Rupert Sunil Lobo
3. Vincent Fernandes
4. Peter Rasquinha
5. Glen Carlo
6. Remy D’Souza

Semifinals will be held on the 01st of October 2010 at the Doha Cinema.

Mangalore Cultural Association, Doha Qatar, thanks all the participants for using this platform to showcase their singing talent and wishes them every success in their future endeavors. It can be noted that all the 12 Semifinalists had participated in the Vocal Touch Voice Workshop conducted by Mr. Jossie Moras and organized by Mangalore Cultural Association.

MCA promises to conduct more of training and workshops in order to bring out more talents from the talented youngsters of Doha. The association requests the Mangaloreans to use these opportunities whenever made available in Qatar.
