Kundapura: “Harmonious life is possible only through religious toleration”-Vaidehi

Udupi, 13 Nov 2012: “One small lamp is enough to lighten the village. To protect this lamp many hands belonging to like-minded people are necessary. However, these hands should not belong to those persons who have religious prejudices but to those who have religious toleration. Under these circumstances alone we can have harmonious life in the society” said Vadehi, the eminent author in Kannada while speaking at a programme “Souhardha Deepavali-2012” organized by Sahamatha Sanghattan in Kundapura Junior College on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She inaugurated this programme by lighting the sparkler.

 

Another senior Kannada writer, Na. D’Souza who was the chief guest at the function said that in an atmosphere of  events that endanger the unity and integrity of the nation, it is important to celebrate festivals of different religious community together with harmony and understanding and defeat the nefarious activities of those who cause communal disharmony and promote hatred among different communities.

 

 

Renowned Kannada writer, Sara Abubakar delivering her message on communal harmony said that by celebrating festivals together we can send positive message among the people. The festival of light that is Deepavali would spread the message of harmony and understanding among the people.

 

Correspondent of the Junior College, Valerian menezes presided over the function. President of Sahamatha Kndapura Shashidhara Hemmadi welcomed the gathering and introduced the significance of the celebration of Deepavali. Shrikantha Vaderahobali compeered the programme and Vinod Crasta, convener of Sahamatha proposed the vote of thanks.

 

In the same function, Dr. Babu, lecturer in MGM College, who is the first one from the Koraga community to have acquired Ph.D. degree was felicitated. Cultural programmes were organized before and after the stage programme.
