Hejmadi: Foundation stone of Coastal Police Station laid

Hejmadi, 30 Oct 2012: The MLA of Kaup Lalaji R. Mendon laid the foundation stone for the new building of Coastal Police Station at the small port near Hejmadi-Kodi which will be built at a cost of Rs. 46 lakhs on Monday, October 29, 2012.
Speaking at this occasion Mendon said that as the police department is an integral part of the society, it is the responsibility of the government to provide it with all basic facilities. As the coastal security is of utmost importance, efforts will be made to complete the building of the new coastal police station at the earliest.
On this occasion the DYSP of Coastal Security Force, Mendonca said that 8 police coastal stations have been sanctioned for a length of 320 kms along the coast. These are-Tannirbhavi, Hejmadi, Malpe, Gangolli, Bhatkal, Honnavar, Belikeri and Karwar. So far Tannirbhavi, Malpe and Karwar forces have their own buildings. Money has been sanctioned for Hejmadi and in stages the remaining centres will have their own buildings.
Mukunda Nayak, station in charge of Hejmadi, PSBR Shanthappa, officer of Coastal Security Force Y. Gangi Reddy and Arun Kumar, Director of Udupi Development Centre were present on this occasion.
Y Gangi Reddy informed on this occasion that the genral public and fishermen should bring to the notice of the Coastal Security Police any illegal or suspicious activities whenever and wherever they come across by ringing to 1093.
