Mangalore: Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to address Congress Workers’ Convention on October 18

Mangalore, 16 Oct 2012: Congress Party’s leaders, Oscar Fernandes and  Janardhana Poojary along with  Karnataka State Congress President Dr. Parameshwar and SPG Central officials visited the Nehru maidan on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 9 am to review the arrangements in progress for the forthcoming visit of the Congress President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi on October 18.

 

The SPG Team inspected the venue of the public meeting to be addressed by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. Oscar Fernandes  who is in charge of the Congress Workers’ Convention on October 18, explained about the programme for the day. SPG officials briefed the organizers of the convention the precaution to be taken about the security of the VIPs attending the convention.  Top police officials and senior Congress leaders were present for the briefing.

 

 

Speaking to the media, Dr. Parameshwar said that the convention on October 18 is an occasion when all the Congress workers from the grass-root level upwards will be gathering. Nearly 20,000 Congress workers and leaders are expected to be present for the convention. Mrs. Sonia Gandhi will arrive at the venue at 4.30 pm. After addressing the convention, she will proceed to Kudroli temple, offer prayers and inaugurate Dasara  festival in the temple premises.

 

SPG officials along with Janardhana Poojary visited the Kudroli temple to review the security arrangements. In view of the Dasara Festival beginning from October 16 and ending on October 25, 250 truckloads of offerings (Horekanike)arrived at Nehru Maidan.
