Two Youths from Udupi Killed in Belgaum Road Accident

Udupi, 09 October 2012: Two youths who went to a religious function at their relative’s house in Mumbai got killed in a road accident in Belgaum on Monday morning. The deceased are Keerthiraj K. Kotyan (29) and Sudhir R. Kotyan (30), both are residents of Manipura Grama, Udupi Taluk. Both of them along with their friend Charan Shanthi (30) went in a car for the Seematha (baby shower) function of Sudhir’s sister in Mumbai.
All the three left from Mumbai on Sunday and while returning their car crashed to a truck which was parked on the road and both Keerthiraj and Sudhir died on the spot. Charan Shanthi who is seriously injured has been admitted in the hospital.
Keerthiraj who was employed in Manipal is the son of Krishna G. Kotyan former member of Mandala Panchayath and Chandravati Kotyan former President of Manipura Grama Panchayath. He is married to Veena of Katpadi and they have a son.
Sudhir is the son of Ramesh and Sumati, he has a sister. Charan Shanthi is an professional Astrologer and also Vastu expert.
All three of them were friends and were active as the Shanthi (Purohits) of Billawa community. They are also known for their social services Recently they were also active in the political field and were the backbone of Billawa Association in Manipura.
It is believed that high speed driving while coming from Mumbai must have caused the accident. Keerthiraj has mentioned in his facebook page that they went with 160 km per hour speed while they were going to Mumbai.
MLA Lalaji Mendon, Vasanth Salian and other local leaders have condoled the demise of these youths. The bodies of Keerthiraj K. Kotyan and Sudhir R. Kotyan will brought to Manipura on Monday night.
The accident in highway usually take place due to the parked vehicles on the road. Especially the truck and bus drivers do not bother that others too share the road.
