A be-fitting farewell to Mr. Richard D’Souza (Hon. Treasurer) of Abu Dhabi Indian School

Abu Dhabi, 08 Oct 2012: A farewell function was held recently for one of the most important India that too a Mangalorean Mr. Richard D’Souza of Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.) at the Abu Dhabi Indian Scholl Auditorium amidst prominent personalities such as Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty for a man dedicated himself for the growth and development of Abu Dhabi Indian School. He was full time working for the U.A.E. Government as General Controller (a highest government post held by any Indian in U.A.E) but every weekend he spent his time as Hon. Treasurer of Abu Dhabi Indian School, checking every financial transactions of the school and making sure everything is in perfect order.
Mr. Richard D’Souza fondly known as Richy arrived to U.A.E. in 1968 and retired in June 2012 after spending 44 years here in U.A.E. serving many communities, helping out community members whatever way he could and most importantly dedicated his life for Abu Dhabi Indian School and its tremendous growth. A befitting farewell was on his honour was held last week at the ADIS.
The gathering included Teaching staff, Board of Members of ADIS, Administrative Sub-Staff and prominent personalities namely: Dr. B.R. Shetty (Chairman ADIS), Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shetty (Board Member), Mr. Sarvotham Shetty (Board Member), Mr. V.K. Mathu (Advisor ADIS), Mr. Rana Maithra (Ex. Borad Member), Mr. Vijay Chandra (Principal ADIS) and many other guests.
Mr. V.K. Mathu welcomed the gathering and esp. Mr. Richard D’Souza and thanked him for his selfless long selfless service to ADIS. Dr. B.R. Shetty praised Mr. Richard and said that he was the most trusted man he could rely on to look after the financial affairs of the school and thanked profoundly for his dedicated and selfless service to the school. He is also a great personality and human being and he will be remembered always by the school and wished him good luck.
Dr. B.R. Shetty felicitated Mr. Richard with a memento and a citation on behalf of ADIS.
Mr. Richard shared his experience and his speech was full of humour and thanked the school and esp. Dr. B.R. Shetty for his continual support during all these years.
Mr. Vijay Chandra proposed the vote of thanks.
A brief cultural function was organized by ADIS school children and a sumptuous dinner was served at the end.
