Udupi: CM Jagadish Shettar inaugurates Renovated Town hall and Bhujanga Park

Udupi, 01 Oct 2012: Chief Minister of Karnataka Jagdish Shettar inaugurated the renovated Town hall, built at the cost of Rs 4 crore and also Bhujanga Park at Ajjarkad here on October 1.

 

In his inaugural speech  Jagdish Shettar said that the people of Udupi town are more creative and excellent in their work and  they get more recognition. Tax collection in this district is done 100 percent.  The general public and the representatives are very much alert, hence the district will get good administration, he said.

 

Apart from the co-operation from the Government and the willingness of the local administration combined together,  much of progress can be expected.  In the cabinet, decision has been arrived for making available 1,720 crores to the Municipality under the development of the town.

 

Udupi – Chikmagalur  MP K Jayaprakash Hegde said that Udupi Town Hall is vital in the changing scenario.  Already, Late VS Acharya had realised the relevance of an airport here, but due to certain technical reasons the project is stranded, discussions will continue in this regard and dicision will be taken for having a Airport soon. Othinene in Bydnoor being most suitable, Udupi and North Kanara people will benefit from the project, he said.

 

 

Earlier Chief Minister Shettar, unveiled the statue of Karamballi Sanjeev Shetty at Ambagilu junction on his arrival to temple town, following which, he laid the foundation stone to the four-laning of Kalsanka-Tangadangadi stretch at Kalsanka junction. The four-laning process is taken up at the cost of Rs 26.5 crores. Later he inaugurated the hostel built by the Social welfare Department at a cost of Rs. 1 crore and also a hostel built by DIET institution. Foundation stone was also laid for a sophisticated traffic station complex in the premises of the present traffic station which will be built at a cost of Rs 1 crore. Shettar then visited the newly built Vartha Bhavan and Udupi Press Club.

 

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat presided over the function and delivered the key note address on the occasion. Udupi district Minister-incharge Kota Srinivasa Poojari released a book ‘Pragathi Prathibimba’ the achievements of BJP administration in Udupi CMC, on the occasion. The Chief ministers health insurance policy, cards were distributed symbolically on this occasion.

 

Udupi zilla panchayath president Katapdi Shanker Poojary, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, MLC Monappa Bhandary, Deputy commissioner of Udupi distirct Dr. M T Reju, Udupi City Muncipality president Kiran Kumar, Vice president Bharathi Chandrashekar, former CMC president Dinakar Shetty Herga, Udupi Taluk Panchayath president Devadas Hebbar, Ajjarkad Yaspal Suvarna, Standing committee president of CMC Prabhakar Poojary, Opposition leader of the CMC Jayananda, Western Range IGP Prathap Reddy and Udupi SP Dr Borelingaih were also present.
