Eighth Regional Catholic Youth Convention inaugurated in Belthangady

Belthangady, 29 Sept 2012: Dr Henry D’Souza, Honorable Bishop of Bellary Diocese, has called upon the youth to materialize the vision of a strong society by breaking barriers of caste and creed.
He was speaking after inaugurating the three-day Karnataka Yuvajanotsava 2012, the eighth Regional Catholic Youth Convention on September 28, Friday at the Holy Redeemer Church premises Belthangady, under the aegis of the Youth Commission of Karnataka Regional.
Catholic Bishops’ Council and Youth Indian Catholic Movement of Belthangady Diocese. Bishop Rev Fr. Henry D’Souza said the main aim of the convention was to inculcate leadership qualities in the youth. He also exhorted the younger generation to be harbingers of change. The youth should develop a strong will power and pave the way for a change for the good, just as the crusade against corruption by Anna Hazare gave a new direction to the war against the social evil, he observed.Earlier, hoisting the Convention flag,Rev Fr Lawrence Mukkuzy, Honorable Bishop of Belthangady Diocese, said the nation can flourish, prosper and progress on expected lines when youth engage in constructive works without going astray. They should have a great vision for their nation, he added.
A large number of young delegates added grace and grandeur to the convention. Students of Kalpataru College presented a prayer in dance form, while the Convention theme song ‘Ondaagona Vishwada Nirmaanakke’ which was also presented in a dance form by students of Sandesha College, mesmerized the audience.
Rev Fr Geevarghese Mar Divannasios, Bishop of Puttur,Fr Franklin D’Souza,National Director of Youth Commission , Fr James D’Souza. Parish Priest of Holy Redeemer Church, Fr Jose Variyaparambil,Fr Zobi,Youth Representatives Brijesh,Joslin Vas, Richard ,Ramson menezes ,Sanny ,and others were on the dais.
Immanuel Santosh, President of Karnataka Regional ICYM, welcomed the gathering. Anusha, Vice President, proposed the vote of thanks.
