Mangalore university will host three days Inter-Collegiate Cultural Festival

Mangalore, 31 Aug 2012: The Mangalore University will organize three- day Inter-Collegiate Cultural Festival for the students studying in its affiliated and constituent colleges from September 3rd to September 5th at the University Campus, said Vice Chancellor Prof T C Shivashankar Murthy.

 

He was speaking at the T C Shivashankar Murthy held at Press Club on August 31, Friday. He also said that the competitions are being conducted in five disciplines like Music, Dance, Theatre, Literary events and Fine Arts and in 25 events.

 

He also said that in the previous years, these competitions were being conducted in five different identified colleges affiliated to the University over a period of approximately a month. But for the first time, these events are scheduled to be conducted in the form of Cultural Festival in the University Campus.  Competitions are being held at six different venues simultaneously – Mangala Auditorium, Yakshagana Kala Kendra, Old Senate Hall, MBA Seminar Hall, Commerce Hall and Humanities Block.

 

 

A total of 49 colleges affiliated to Mangalore University are participating in the events with a total student participation of 1270. Subject experts and senior artistes have been invited to serve as jury.

 

The festival will be inaugurated on September 3rd at 10 am at Mangala Auditorium by Chittani Ramachandra Hegade, Padma Shri Awardee Yakshagana Artist.  Prof T C Shivashankar Murthy will preside over the event. Malpe Lakshminarayana Samaga, president of Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy will be the chief guest at the valedictory to be held on September 5 at 3 pm.

 

He also said that out of 193 colleges coming under the limit of Mangalore University, 80 colleges have received the approval to conduct the online admission. Further even the internal assessment will also be done online.

 

On September 10, Mangalore University will celebrate its 33rd Founders Day and Prof Ramanand Shetty, VC of Nitte University will deliver the lecture. Around 140 laptops will be distributed among the professors, assistant professors, he said.

 

Registrar Subramanya Yadapadithaya, MCJ professor G P Shivaram and Students Welfare director Khader were present at the press meet.
