M’belle: With flowers and hymns the Novena of Montifest begins

Moodubelle, 30 Aug 2012: Though it rained in the morning, school children in neat uniforms carrying their school bags and flowers  came to the church in large number joined by the parishioners on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 8.30 am for the first day of the Novena Mass.

Fr. Lancy Saldanha, Assistant Parish Priest and Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School offered the Novena Mass and conducted the Novena Prayers. Students of St. Lawrence English medium High School animated the liturgy of the day.

 

Following the end of the Mass, children and adults went in line to offer flowers at the reclining  statue of the Child Mary kept in front of the main alter as the choir sang “Sakkad Sangatha Mellyam...”. Thereafter children with plates and  trays of flowers assembled in the portico of the church where they showered the colourful   flowers on the statue of Child Mary as they sang “Moriyek Hogolshiyam....”

 

 

At the end, as the children moved away on way to their respective  schools and colleges, sweets were distributed.
