Shirva: Valadoor Association celebrate ’Aatid Onji Dina’

Shirva, 07 August 2012: The celebrations of Tulunadu are formed with the aim of strengthening the joint family bonds. All the festivals and celebrations related to the agriculture will strengthen the families. Flourishing unity is the specialty of Tulunadu culture, said popular Janapad Scholar and Journalist K.L. Kudanthya.


 
He was speaking upon inaugurating ‘Atidonji Dina’ traditional celebration program conducted by Valadoor Welfare Association near Shirva at Valadoor Guthu Mane premises on Saturday. Speaking further he briefed on the history behind the Tulunadu festivals and its celebrations. He said, in the earlier days people used to cultivate crops in every paddy fields. But today due to the shortage of labour and the lack of interest in agriculture among the educated people, has left the land without cultivation. So at least the celebrations like ‘kesard onji dina’ and ‘Atidonji Dina’ will create the opportunities to get closer to agriculture, he said.

 

 

Chief guest of the program religious thinker B. Pundalika Marathe upon giving away the prizes to the winners in the competitions spoke and said that, in the earlier days during the festival celebrations, every house conducts poojas and religious celebrations, which encourages unity, love and trust among the families making the bond stronger. But now the television and mobiles have occupied this, hence the doubts and disbelieves have increased, which is a tragedy he said.


 
Kuthyaru retired Headmaster K. Srinivasa Rao remembered the childhood days. The program was presided over by Association Vice President Raghu Shetty. Moodumane Vasantha Poojary in his introductory note explained the significance of the day. Prasad Shetty welcomed. Daraguttu Satish Shetty was present on the dias. Rama Shetty, Valadoor Narayana Shetty, Harinakshi M. Shetty, Savita Bhandary, Ajit Shetty, Ramesh Moolya coordinated.


 
Association Hon President and Entrepreneur Shantaraj Y. Shetty sponsored scholarship was distributed to the students of PUC and higher education of the area. Suresh compeered the program. Sukesh Saliyan proposed vote of thanks. Later the special meal with the special dishes of Ati was served.
