Mangalore: Opposition members criticize Zilla Panchayat for not implementing programmes

Mangalore, 17 July 2012: The opposition members of the Mangalore Zilla Panchayat strongly criticized the administration for not implementing the programmes during the eighth general body meeting held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11 in Zilla Panchayat Office, Nethravati Hall. The topic of the discussion was progress made during this year.
Opposition member Santosh Kumar said that due to the mismanagement of the officers of Grama Panchayat no Grama Sabhas have been convened in many village panchayats. Some members complained about the shortage of teachers in rural areas. One member , Mamata Gatty pointed out that there is shortage of trained teachers especially in the subject of Mathematics.
Responding to the criticism from the opposition members, the CEO said that he will bring to the notice of the concerned ministers the problems raised by the members. Prior to the session, those students from the district who scored high marks in the SSLC examination were felicitated.
Chief Executive Engineer, Satya Narayan informed the members that for the year 2011-12, government had sanctioned a special grant of 10 crores of rupees to the district. Out of this amount 3.33 crores have been released so fart out of which 1.18 crore has been utilized and 1.55 crore has been released in March 2012.
