Manipal: K.V. Kamath chosen for K.K. Pai Banking award

Manipal, 26 June 2012: Infosys Managing Director and ICICI Bank President K.V. Kamath has been chosen for the prestigious K.K. Pai National Banking Award. Kamath had shown for the first time the Banking success through ICICI Bank and the implementation of technology to improvise the customer service, therefore his has been chosen for this award, said the awarding K.K. Pai Trust.
K.V. Kamath who did his SSLC, PUC in Mangalore, completed his Engineering in NITK Surathkal. Later he received his Management Degree in IIM in Ahmadabad. In 77 he got employed in ICICI, in 88 he became Officer in Asian Development Bank, then he joined ICICI as Managing Director. During his tenure ICICI Bank grown as the biggest private Bank in the country and in the Indian Banking system became 2nd largest Indian Bank.
In 2009 he got retired and became Director in Banking Committee. In the same year he became the Director of Infosys. In 2011 he became the President of Board of Directors. In 2009 – 09 he became President of Indian Industrial Unity and was President of the World Financial Stage held in Davos.
He was honoured as the Business Leader of the year in 2001 by C.N.B.C., Business Man of the year in 2007 by Forbes Asia and Business Leader of the year from Economics Times. Indian Government has awarded him Padmabhushana in 2008.
