Moodubelle: Two daylong spiritual seminar for students prior to the commencement of classes

Moodubelle, 13 June 2012: Following the enrichment programme for the teaching staff, a two daylong spiritual seminar was held for the students of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions prior to the commencement of their classes for the academic year 2012-13. Two separate seminars were held for the Christian and non-Christian students on June 7 and 8, 2012.
Retreat for the Christian students was held in the Partish hall which was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. Fr, Paul Sequeira, Principal of St. Lawrence PU College welcomed the gathering, Mrs. Hilda Aranha compeered the inaugural programme and Mrs. Sandra Lobo propose the vote of thanks. The resource persons Fr. Prashant D’Souza S.J. and Fr. Melwyn Pinto S.J. as well as Fr. Lancy Saldanha, Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School and Sr. Vinitha were also present.
In his presidential message, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that faith is the foundation of life and everyone should live by faith. Further he said that faith is important for leading a successful life.
During the two daylong seminar, the resource persons, Fr. Prashant D’Souza and Fr. Melwyn Pinto spoke on various topics including purpose of life, prayer, vision and mission, etc.
During the concluding function on June 8, 2012 students narrated their experiences during the two daylong seminar. Clive Quadros spoke on behalf o the high school students and Jezil spoke on behalf of the PUC students.
The seminar for the non-Christian students was held in the PU College hal. The inaugural function on June 7, 2012 was presided over by Mrs. Shyamala B.N. The seminar was inaugurated by the resource person Dr. Vadiraj Bhat in the presence of Sister Vinaya of Brhama Kumaris. The programme was compeered by Mrs. Sarojini Kamath and vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Chandrakala B.E.
During two days, Dr. Vadiraja Bhat and Sister Vinaya covered wide ranging topics including how to be human , purpose of life, how to become good and useful, silence-the language of soul, yoga, etc.
