Young Lovers end life fearing parents refusal

Padubidri, 18 April 2012: Assuming that their parents may not consent for their marriage the young lovers ended their life by jumping into the river in Hejamadi. The teenagers who committed suicide are Dinesh (18) and his Uncle’s daughter Vanita (19). Dinesh is the son of Thukarama a resident of Jadamali, Yermal Grama, Padubidri. He was working in a hotel in Udupi. Vinita is the daughter of Sundara a resident of Kanchinadka Grama of Uchila.

 
Both of them belong to the scheduled caste of Koraga community and were the close relatives and were missing since Saturday. Since both of them were missing on the same day, their families assumed that they must have gone away together, so they thought that they will come back, hence they did not complain to the police. But they prayed to their home deities to find them.

 

 
On Monday night at around 10 pm the body of Dinesh was found in Shambhavi river in Hejamadi Grama. When searched more in the morning on Tuesday the body of Vanita also was found. Both of them seems to have jumped to the river from the bridge. They ran away from home and returned after 2 days, so it seems that they must have been confused as how to face their families, so must have ended their life.

 
The reality is that, leave aside objecting their marriage, their parents did not even know that they both were loving each other or they had never told their parents. But Dinesh’s brother Hariprasad and Vanita’s brother Poornesh knew about the love affair of their siblings. But they say that they never took it seriously.

 
In Vanita’s house they were looking for the proposal for her marriage. This must have caused panic and they must have ran away and without knowing what to do further must have returned back. But after coming back unable to face their families they must have ended their life.
