Udupi, 12 April 2012: Fed-up with the negligence of the people’s representatives who did not bother to repair the Marne – Kodangla link road in Manipura Grama Panchayath area in spite of repeated petitions, the villagers protested with ‘Rasta Roko’ by blocking the road in Marne. Near Marne Grama Higher Primary School, the local villagers in a protest dug pit on the road and planted banana plants and blocked the road.
They blocked the road for about 10 minutes stopping the movements of the buses and then warned that, if the road is not repaired within the next 15 days they will conduct more serious protest. In the protest the local associations leaders; Prashanth Kamath, Nagaraj Kamath, Vasantha Prabhu, Suresh, Ganesh Shetty, Shivaraya Prabhu, Rekha, Sumati and others were present.
This road from Marne upto Alevoor Vishnumurthy Temple about 5 kilometer distance is completely gone bad. With the potholes on the road it is not suitable for people – vehicle movement. On this problem the people have submitted petitions to Kaup MLA Lalaji R. Mendon, Deputy Commissioner and the relevant Manipura Grama Panchayath, who have given assurances to repair it, but nothing has materialized so far, so fed up with this the villagers took up this protest.
All ministers making money .they were not bother about what pepoles are suffering. If there is no roads, then how can go for any emergency to the hospital or school/college .They know only how to cheat the pepole!!
