Health Systems must Change - Veerappa Moily

Bangalore, 19 April 2010 :  "There is growing evidence that the current health systems of the nations around the world will be unsustainable if unchanged over the next 15 years. India is at a point in time where we can chose and embed strong fundamentals in our healthcare systems, as we are just starting to build the healthcare model. We must build our indigenous healthcare system and stop importing failures" Union Minister for Law and Justice, Veerappa Moily told students graduating from St. Johns National Academy of Health Sciences, April 17th. 

Commenting on the need for morality in the medical profession, he added " A profession is not merely an occupation of highly learned and skilled technicians. It also includes a strong and inseparable moral commitment made publicly. In medicine, this avowal of morality has behind it, a tradition of many centuries. Ethics is and has always been a force both within and outside the medical profession, shaping its contours and the behaviour of its practitioners".

Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras presided over the Convocation and gave away the certificates.
