Chikmagalur: Baila Show of Mandd Shobhan Organized by Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Mesmerizes Music-Buf

Chikmagalur, 15 Febraury 2012: Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Chikmagalur – Hassan ® organized Baila Show being staged by Mandd Sobhann, Mangalorre based organization striving to promote Konkani and its distinct culture worldwide at Chikmagalur Catholic Centre (CCC) lawns, here on Sunday February 12 evening. It was organized in aid of poor students’ fund.
Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Chikmagalur – Hassan ® president Cyril Rebello presided the stage programme. The state coffee Board member Philip Saldanha, Konkani activist and philanthropist Metilda D’Silva was the chief guests of the occasion.
Infant Jesus Shrine superior Fr Valerian and Sakleshpur parish priest Fr Vincent was the guests of honour.
Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Chikmagalur – Hassan ® secretary Eddy Pinto and treasurer Joachim D’Souza were present at the dais.The dignitaries felicitated Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario for his lifetime contributions to Konkani during the programme. Eric Ozario in his acknowledgement stressed on the need for Holy Masses that has to be celebrated in Konkani in Malnad region, which is a justified demand by a large number of Konkani-speaking-community. The liturgical service in Konkani will strengthen the movement for its sustenance that has been the key objective of Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Chikmagalur – Hassan ®. He hailed it as a legitimate right.
Cyril Rebello in his presidential address explained the history of Konkani in Malnad and the path tread by Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Chikmagalur – Hassan ® that has already 15 units with 5,000 members. Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Chikmagalur – Hassan ® aims to support the Konkani students who aspire for higher education through education fund. He urged the community to join in the struggle for fulfilling their demand of Konkani liturgical service on Sundays and also during Monti Fest, urged Cyril Rebello.
Konkani Rakaan Sanchalan, Chikmagalur – Hassan ® secretary Edwyn welcomed the gathering. Joint secretary Gretta Dias proposed vote of thanks. Alwyn D’Souza compered the programme.
Over 2,000 people were present during Baila Show that was indeed mesmerized the Konkani music-buffs, who were served with Mangalorean traditional food at the occasion.
