Manipal: Creation of Social Entrepreneurs, the Biggest Challenge

Manipal, 22 January 2012: The biggest challenge before us is to create social entrepreneurs. The need of the hour is to motivate management graduates to take up those ventures that bring about rural transformation. Though it is true that there have been leakages of resources in the allocation and execution of financial resources, let us not be conditioned by the part” said Sri. S.N.A. Jinnah, the Chief General Manager, the Karnataka Regional Office of NABARD.
He was speaking on the occasion of the inaugural function of the National Conference on “Rural Transformation and Development Perspectives: Managerial Challenges” organized by Manipal Institute of Management on 21st January 2012. Dr. K. Ramnarayan the Vice Chancellor of Manipal University spoke of the need to address the issues of leadership and teamwork. In the context of bringing about rural transformation in the Indian environment.
Sri D.T. Pai, the Chairman and Managing Trustee of Jnana Jyothi Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Trust, Syndicate Bank Head Office, Manipal, deliberated upon the need for financial literacy and providing information regarding financial services to the poor. Sri D.T. Pai argued that this process helps financial service providers to become efficient in their functioning. He opinioned that access to financial resources and services ids the catalyst to bring about rural transformations. Inclusive growth through financial inclusion is the mantra of the modern economic growth, he said.
Prof. P. Ramkrishna Chadaga, the Director of Manipal Institute of Management welcomed the delegates of the conference. Dr. K.V.M. Varambally, the Conference Chair, presented his overview of the objectives and proposed deliberations of the Conference. Sri Srikanth, an Entrepreneur was felicitated on the occasion. Dr. Swathi, the Conference Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Smitha Nayak, Assistant Professor at Manipal Institute of Management, compered the programme.
