Sharjah: Karaval Milan to Host Twin Sports Gala on Jan 27
Media Release
Sharjah, 21 Jan 2012: ’Karaval Milan’ the unified voice of 19 coastal parishes of Mangalore diocese stretching from Kundapur to Kallianpur, under the astute leadership of Eric D’Souza will hold a twin sports gala for all Kannada, Tulu and Konkani speaking people.
The sports event comprising volleyball for men and throwball for women will be held on January 27 at Sharjah Wanderers.
The preparations for the twin event are in full swing. Organizers have confirmed the participation of all the erstwhile teams who enthralled the UAE sports spectators with their skills and dedication in the previous years. These teams will compete for the coveted trophies. Besides, there will be surprise prizes which Karaval Milan will declare on the spot.
Since Karaval Milan is celebrating this sports day as a family day too, there will be various types of sports events in different categories. Parents along with their children are requested to be on time in huge numbers to cheer their favourite teams and also to participate.
There will be a mixed throwball event which had been started by Karaval Milan during their previous sports day on an experimental basis. After enjoying huge success the current edition will see a bigger rendition. There will be four women and five men players in each team. One of the conditions, as a means to encourage everybody to participate, is that none of the male participant of the mixed throwball team should be a member of any participating volleyball team for this tournament.
This event will be played on knock-out basis and four teams will be allowed to play on first-come-first-serve basis with a nominal entry fee of AED 250. Entries for this event will be accepted only on the sports day in the morning session.
