Palli: Ninjoor-A wins “Vama Trophy” Vollyball Tournament

Palli, 20 December 2011: Colourful floodlight Vollyball tournament“Vama Trophy – 2011” was inaugurated on Saturday, 17th December 2011,in Palli sports grounds. The tournament is conducted by “Varija Madhava Foundation – Ninjoor Maligemane” founded in memory of theexemplary achiever, inspiration to the youth, donor and Mumbai entrepreneur Kaudoor Kampanu Madhava G. Hegde, by his wife Varija M.Hegde and children.

 

Karkala Dy.SP Santhoshkumar upon lighting the lamp said that, the sports are helpful in uniting the youths and fill the sports spirit in them. He appreciated such program being taking place in rural areas and congratulated the organizers. Karkala MLA H. Gopala Bhandary presided over the program and congratulated the Vama Foundation for providing an opportunity for the rural sports talents by organizing the tournament and wished success in such activities in the society.

 

 

On the dias; Karkala Zone Education Officer Ravishankar Rao K.International sports person Rohitkumar Kateel, Udupi District Dy.Police Commissioner Venkatesh, Palli Grama Panchayath President Pravin Pandi, Taluk Physical Education Officer Babu Poojary, Padmanabha Shetty, Varija M. Hegde, Suresh M. Hegde, Mohandas M. Hegde, Mallika Ramesh Shetty, Sukarama Shetty, Jagadish Hegde, Yatiraj Shetty,Jayaram Shetty and Chandrashekar Shetty were present.

Coordinator Surendra M. Hegde welcomed the guests and the gathering.Local Committee President Ravindra M. Hegde proposed vote of thanks.Aroor Thimmappa Shetty and Chitrabail Shetty compeered the program. The Vollyball matches between the six rural teams and then the invitee outside teams were played.

In the breathtaking final in the floodlight Vollyball tournament Palli Ninjoor – A team won the trophy and cash prize Rs. 45,678, by defeating Palli Ninjoor – B team. The Palli Ninjoor team received runner up trophy and Rs 23,456 cash prize. Raktheshwari Friends Kuntadi team won the third place. Shri Sayee Samradh Sooda team had to satisfy with the fourth place.

Among the competitions of rural teams, Nityananda Friends Ninjoor team won the first place and received trophy and cash prize. Geleyara Balaga Palli team won second place.

In the prize distribution ceremony, Karkala Former MLA V. Sunil Kumar gave away the trophy and cash prizes to the winning team. On the dias;Karkala Taluk Panchayath Member Rashmi Kishor Shetty, Grama Panchayath President Pravin Pandi, Santhosh Shetty, Vishwanath Bhandary, Vama Foundation Managing Director Suresh M. Hegde, Jayarama Shetty, Mohandas M. Hegde, Jitendra M. Hegde, Jagadish Hegde, Padmanabha Shetty, Chandrashekar Shetty, Yatiraj Shetty, Ramesh Shetty and Varija M. Hegde were present.

Chitrapadi Satishchandra Shetty welcomed the gathering. Surendra M.Hegde proposed vote of thanks. Ravindra M. Hegde compeered the program. Aroor Thimmappa Shetty and Upendra Perdoor presented the running commentary.
