Christmas Celebration at Mangalore Sub-Jail

Mangalore, 19 December 2011: Prison Ministry India, (the National voluntary organisation working for the release, renewal and rehabilitation of prisoners as well as women in distress) Mangalore Unit - celebrated the Christmas with the inmates of District Sub-Jail, Mangalore on 19th December 2011. Rev. Fr. Walter D’Souza OCD, the Co-ordinator of PMI, welcomed the gathering.
Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore who was the President of the Program, delivered the Christmas message of peace and brotherhood. Speaking on the occasion he said that Christ is born not only to a particular community rather he has come to alleviate the pain and to give joy and peace to all. Mr. C. K. Manjunath, Principal and Academic Head of Yenepoya School, Mangalore invited the inmates to make the best of the opportunities provided in the jail and to enrich their experience by mixing with others and sharing their joys and sorrows. He said, every problem has solution provided we take a right direction and means to solve it.
P. S. Ambekar, Superintendent of Mangalore Prison and other Prison authorities were present. Students of Sacred Heart High School, Kulshekar entertained the inmates with a colorful dance and skit. Sr. Dafney proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the contribution made by Leslie D’Costa. Mrs. Jane Sequeira compeered the program.
