Shirva: Health Centre conducts Aids awareness program

Shirva, 15 December 2011: It is very important to create awareness among the general public on the deadly Aids decease which has spread whole over the world, for this the young generation need to play an important role in implementing the various programs organized by the government through the health centers, said Udupi Taluk Panchayath President Kattingeri Devadas Hebbar.
He was speaking in his presidential address in the Aids awareness program conducted by Shirva Samudaya Health Centre on the occasion of World Aids Day, on Tuesday. The program was inaugurated by Jilla Panchayath Member Ida Gibba D’Souza by lighting the lamp. Chief Guests of the program Shirva Grama Panchayath President Vanithakamalaksha Shenoy and Rotary District Deputy Governor K.R. Patkar were present.
Samudaya Health Centre Administrative Medical Officer Dr. Vasudeva Upadyaya in his welcome key note briefed informatively on the infection of HIV, the problems of those who are infected, consultancy, testing methods and control. Consultant Vasanthi spoke on the occasion and briefed information on the functions of ICTI Centre and the facilities available at District Centre.
Dental Medical Officer Dr. Santhosh Kumar Bailoor was present on the dias. In the program Micheal Mathias, Herald D’Cunha, Dr. Arun Kumar Hegde, Gopala Krishna Prabhu, St. Mary’s College MSW Students, Anganavadi and Asha workers, Hospital Staff and the public had participated. Junior Health Assistant Nagayya Hiremutt compeered the program. Anganavadi Teacher Jayanthi conducted prayers. Junior Health Assistant Anjaneya proposed vote of thanks.
