Moodubelle: Annual Sports Day at English Medium School

Moodubelle, 11 December 2011: Annual Sports Day held in St. Lawrence English Medium High School Moodubelle with an inaugural function at the School grounds in the morning at 9.30 am on Friday 09th December 2011. The program began with the welcoming note by Rev. Fr. Lancy Saldanha – Principal of the High School, who welcomed the guests and the gathering. School students sang prayer song as the proceedings began.
 
The guests and dignitaries present on the occasion included Mrs. Blossom D’Souza - Branch Manager Syndicate Bank Moodubelle, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes – Correspondent of School, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequira - Principal of St. Lawrence P.U. College, Rev. Fr. Lancy Saldhana - Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium School, Mr. Alphonse Alva – Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council and the Parents.
 
Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes – Correspondent of the High School unfurled the flag. Mrs. Blossom D’Souza received the guard of honour. The auspicious Kreeda Jyothi was carried by the prominent sports students of the School Rovita (Talluk Level Short put 3rd place),  Joswin D’Mello – School Sports Minister (Discus throw Gold medal Taluk level), Sachin Nayak (Zonal Level 3 Gold medals), Viola Mathais (2nd place High jump Taluk level), Anson (High jump Gold medal, Zonal level Hurdels), Reshal (High Jump Dist level), Avinash Noronha ( Bronze Medal Hammer throw) and the flame was lit by Fr. Paul Sequeira.

 

 

 
Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Blossom said that, it is an good opportunity available to the students and asked them to identify their sports spirits, bring out their hidden talents and thereby improve their sports spirit and go to the national and international level, shine and bring pride to the school. Participation in sports and games will strengthen the leadership skills and it is also important to participate in extracurricular activities like N.C.C., Sports, N.S.S, Scouts & Guides, Singing, Dancing, Music etc. from which the students will be able to learn the skills that are very important to live in this world. Students should give equal importance to sports along with their studies. Winning is not an important but taking part with sportive spirit is important, from which they can gain friendship, she said. Mrs. Malathi – Asst. Teacher compeered the program. Mrs. Sandra – Teacher proposed vote of thanks.
 
The sports day was concluded with the closing ceremony program in the evening at 4.00 pm. The guests and dignitaries present included Mr. Peter Raphail Aranha – National Awarded Teacher and Headmaster of Church Aided Higher Primary School Moodubelle and Rev. Fr. Lancy Saldhana - Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium School. Rev. Fr. Lancy Saldhana welcomed the guest and the gathering.
 
The Champions in the various competitions on the sports day are as follows.
 
Champions of 5th & 6th Std: Nidhish K., Calvin D’Cunha, Reema Mathias, Nidhi Shetty
 
Champions of 7th & 8th Std: Sachin B.Nayak , Flency D’Almeda, Voila Mathias
 
Champions of 9th &  10th Std: Joy Allam Carvalho, Reshma

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Raphael Aranha congratulated the winners, all the participant students and also the teachers for conducting the sports competitions on the sports day. Mrs. Malathi – Asst. Teacher compeered the program and also proposed vote of thanks.
