Brahmavara: ‘Birdpex’ Postal Stamp exhibition for Guinness

Brahmavara, 08 December 2011: Hobby should not be just limited to the collection of things; there is no use from this. The collection of things should be useful for self-study and for the studies of others, and then only there is meaning in the hobbies, said popular environmental expert Dr. N.A. Madhyasta. He was speaking as the chief guest in the inaugural program of the ‘Birdpex’ exhibition of the Postal Stamp of the Birds for the Guinness Record by the popular Postal Stamp Collector Daniel Montheiro in St. Mary’s Syrian College on Wednesday.
The program was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Dr. M.T. Reju and conveyed his good wishes. Speaking on the occasion another chief guest D.K. District Stamp Collector’s Association President M.K. Krishnayya said, he considers the honour being received by Montheiro on the stamp collection is the honour for all the stamp collectors.
The program was presided over by the College Principal Prof. K Narayana. College Correspondent Very Rev. Ramban Scariya gave asheervachana. Other guests and dignitaries present on the dias were; Little Rock School Principal Mathew C. Ninan. Retired Postal Director S. Gopal, Mangalore Municipal Commissioner Ajit Kumar Hegde and Joseph Suvares from College Administrative Board.
The exhibition is still open for the public. More than 5000 Postal Stamps of Birds of more than 170 countries are in the exhibition. This exhibition is being conducted for the Guinness Record and the experts from Postal Department and Birds are viewing this, taking video and pictures to make a comprehensive report with the attempt for the inclusion of this into the Guinness Record Book.
