Belman: “Sahakari Saudha” inaugurated in centenary function

Belman, 16 November 2011: The cooperative associations get started and then get closed; in the competitive atmosphere a cooperative association celebrating 100 years is surprising and also delightful. Among all the worships, the service to those who are suffering from poverty and helping them to prosperous is the best worship, said Adamaru Mutt Shri Vishwapriya Theertha Swameeji. He was speaking upon inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Belman Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha and the new building “Sahakari Soudha” by lighting the lamp on Tuesday.

 

 

 
The program was presided over by D.K. District Centre Sahakari Bank President M.N. Rajendra Kumar, who said in his presidential address that, in my 17 years career in the cooperative service I see for the first time a cooperative society celebrating the centenary celebrations in the Udupi District, which is Belman Cooperative Society, he said. He wished the society to implement the various projects of the government and provide the farmers with low interest loans and announced rupees 2 lakhs from his society as encouragement fund.
 
Belman St. Joseph Church Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza spoke on the occasion and said that this society which was started by the Church Priests operated for many years in the Church residence and then with the coordination of the public it grown into a secular society and thanked everyone who worked hard for this society on this centenary occasion. Udupi Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary spoke and said that in the earlier days the societies have grown with difficulty, but in these days with the support of the governments the societies have transformed into Banks, he said.
 
Other gusts and dignitaries present on the occasion were; Former Karkala MLA V. Sunil Kumar, Karkala Taluk Panchayath President Jayaram Salian, Belman Grama Panchayath President Mallika Rao, Cooperative Societies Deputy Manager K. Nayana, Deputy Manager Siddartha, District Cooperative Union President B.M. Govinda Rao and Sangha Director Kishan Hegde Kolkebail.
 
On this occasion Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Rodrigues, Krishna Bhat, Faustine D’Mello, Jayaprakash Kemmannu, Micheal Mathias, Madhusoodana Acharya who are all worked for the development of the society have been honoured. Secretary B. Ananda Shetty read the report. Janet D’Mello welcomed the guests and the gathering. Prakash Shenoy compeered the program. Devendra Nayak proposed vote of thanks.
