Udupi, 12 November 2011: Udupi Jilla Panchayath has decided to take disciplinary action of those Officers fail to attend the Jilla Panchayath regular meeting. This decision was taken on Thursday in the meeting and the Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary on the spot asked the higher Officers to take necessary action on the Labour Department Officer Johnson who has been absent for the meeting from many months.

Regarding a circular related to Labour Department JP Congress member Anantha Moovadi requested for additional information. But to provide that information the Officer Johnson was not present in the meeting.
CEO Prabhakara Sharma said that Johnson had not taken any prior permission on his absence.

Members Divakara Kunder, Manjunatha Poojary, Udaya Kotyan and others expressed strong objection on such absence. Moovadi said that it is the right of Jilla Panchayath to take necessary action on this and urged to take action. President asked CEO to take necessary action and CEO agreed.

During the meeting member Suprita Dipak Shetty said that, in Kundapura Taluk Agricultural Department Officers have given only Rs. 250 as the compensation to the farmers who have suffered losses due to Kole diseases on Beetle nut plants. But the Officers who came to survey the losses have collected Rs. 250 from each house as the auto rickshaw charges, how can this be justified? she questioned.

Jilla Agricultural Department Officer said that the Officers of Karkala and Udupi Taluk who are conducting the survey have been issued Rs. 15 monthly travelling allowances. But no allowances issued to the Officers of Kundapura Taluk. But the Officers should not have collected the money from the farmers, he said. CEO Prabhakara asked the Officer to take action on those Officers who took such bribe.

Various other issues were discussed such as the absence of Deputy Commissioner in the meeting, damages due to rain, ration card, anganavadi building issue, agricultural loan etc. Others present on the dias were; Vice President Jyothi S. Shetty, Sthyi Samiti President Babu Shetty, Savita Shivananda, Upendra Nayak and Development Officer Pranesh Rao.
