Udupi, 09 November 2011: Udupi district youth association members conducted protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday accusing that, they were not given the positions in the organizing committee for the state level Yuvajanothsava celebration which is being conducted with a cost of lakhs of rupees by the District Youth Service and Sports Department on 12th November.
Speaking on the occasion Manohar Kunder who is the President of the association since the last 10 years said that, the responsibility of organizing the state level Yuvajanothsava in a grand manner should be given to them. Many teams who won the prizes and trophies in the various Yuvajanothsava are in our association. So they should be included in the Yuvajanothsava organizing committee, he urged.
District Youth Service and Sports Officer Sithanadi Vittala Shetty is misusing his power and without involving any associations or youth organizations, has only included the educational societies and teachers. He calls us only when needed, but keeps us away in the Yuvajanothsava in which lakhs of rupees are spent, he accused.
When we went to the Deputy Commissioner to complain about this, he also did not consider us properly. Because of our protest, the enquiry committee members who came from Bangalore have been taken care by Sithanadi Vittala Shetty and Deputy Commissioner and have given false report, he accused.
Seethanadi Vittala Shetty and Karkala Taluk Officer H.K. Ganapayya who is supporting him should be suspended immediately and the Yuvajanothsava should be postponed. The committee which is already formed should be cancelled and a new committee should be formed including the youth association. The responsibility of organizing the programs for the youths should be handed over to the youth association, he urged.
The protest was led by the youth association Office Bearers Yathish Kalya, Shankaradasa Chndkala, Rajesh Malya, Divakara Hejamadi and others.
