Udupi: City Municipal Council Facilities 2011 inaugurated

Udupi, 18 October 2011: For the first time in 1972 Udupi had discarded the practice of carrying the rubbish on the head and has been a example, and now providing all the facilities under one roof with City Municipal Council Facilities 2011 it has again shown its excellence, said Udupi In charge Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya. He was speaking upon inaugurating City Municipal Council Facilities 2011 on Monday.
Acharya said that, for Scheduled Tribes / Scheduled Caste 22.25%, Backward communities 7.75% and for the Mentally – Physically challenged persons 3%, so all together rupees 3.50 crores grant has been reserved. This facility is made available on Monday and Tuesday without any mediatos, which is appreciable, he said.
Former Municipal President Gujjadi Prabhakara Nayak in his introductory speech said that, among the population of Udupi city only 10% are Scheduled Tribes / Scheduled Caste. They have been allotted 22.25% funds and every year full amount is being utilized in a proper manner. During 2009 – 10 from the reserved fund 2.5 crore rupees has been utilized for various projects and aid, he gave details.
The program was presided over by Municipal President Kiran Kumar. Other guests present on the occasion were; MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, Advisor to Chief Minister on City Development Ravindra, Taluk Panchayath President Dinakara Shetty Herga, Deputy Commissioner Dr. M.T. Reju, S.K. Fisheries Federation President Yashpal Suvarna, Municipal Vice President Bharathi Chandrashekar, Former President Dinakara Shetty, Former Vice President Indira Shekar and Committee President Naveen Bhandary. Paurayuktha Gopaldas Nayak compeered the program.
