Udupi: State Athletic Meet ends, Alva’s Overall Champions

Udupi, 17 October 2011: In the Karnataka State Juniors and Seniors Athletic Meet held in Mahatma Gandhi Stadium Udupi, as per expectations Alva’s Sports Club Moodbidri have won the Overall Championship. Among the 10 categories of the 5 age groups, Alva’s athletes have bagged team championship in 7 categories and also have won 5 individual Championships.
 
While the competitions were finishing at 4.00 pm in the evening on Sunday, the sky was cloudy. As the award distribution was coming to end the rain poured all of a sudden. Finally the Alva’s athletes upon receiving the Overall Championship trophy, ran around in the stadium getting wet from the rain, dancing to the music of band, jumping, enjoyed the celebration.

 

 

 
Karnataka Sports Association President Dr. Parameshwara distributed the prizes to the winners. In the ceremony the main sponsors of the event Corporation Bank Dy. General Manager Narendra Pai, MRPL Mangalore Dy. General Manager Lexmi Kumaran, Guests; MGR Bangalore Managing Director Prakash Shetty, KAA Vice President Purushotham, Dr. Ashwathnarayana, Former MLA Vinaykumar Sorake, Udupi City Development President Sudhakara Shetty and Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shakara Poojary were present.
 
Athletic Meet Committee Working President Yashpal Sharma, Udupi DAA President Balakrishna Hegde were on the dias. Athletic Meet committee MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat briefed on the overall athletic meet.
