Udupi: More than 5000 unit collected in blood donation camp

Udupi, 26 September 2011: The concluding ceremony of the blood donation camp was held at Shri Durgaparameshwari Kalyana Mantapa, Mandarthi, on Sunday. In the blood donation camp which was jointly organized by Udupi Jilla Mogaveera Yuva Sangatane and Dr. G. Shankar Family Trust, more than 5,000 unit blood was collected. More than 1,500 blood donors waited for their turn with enthusiasm and created a record.
 
The program was inaugurated by District In charge Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya. In his speech Dr. Acharya said that, everyone pray to God for the good health. Here in the temple the people are donating the blood for the good health of others. This is something that God likes, he appreciated.

 

 
 
40 years ago when he was a doctor in Kalmadi near Malpe and at that time for just one unit blood people used to get stunned. Today the same people in thousands are waiting for their turn to donate blood. Mogaveera Yuva Sangatane who is the reason behind this conversion has created an social revolution, opinioned Dr. Acharya.
 
The program was presided over by Dr. H.S. Ballal of Manipal University. Mogaveera Yuva Sangatane Jilla President Sathish M. Nayak welcomed. G. Shankar Family Trust Patron Dr. G. Shankar presented introductory speech. On this occasion Mogaveera Yuva Sangatane Jilla President Sathish M. Nayak, Coordinator Ashok Kunder and donating blood for the first time daughter of Shankar, Shyamili welcomed Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya. Niska Kanchan a student of Mogaveera community who has done outstanding achievement in the field of education has been felicitated by Dr. H.S. Ballal.
