Shirva: Tailors need govt. help to improve life standard

Shirva, 20 September 2011: Everyone in the community needs tailors. But there are some in this profession who are very poor and they face financial difficulties to have a decent life, children’s education, medical treatment and so on. There is no record of honouring the tailors by the government or the society who work hard and honestly. These tailors stitch dress, pyjamas, caps and other cloths without any difference between the rich and the poor, but they themselves have no economic security. In order to improve the living standards of the tailors, government’s help is very much essential, said State Tailors Association Udupi District President Abdul Khadir.
He was speaking as the chief guest of the program supporting and encouraging the children of the tailors on Sunday at Shirva Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple Auditorium. The Tailor’s Association began 10 years ago and now in the state it has more than one lakh members. The association along with the fulfilment of the professional work, also involves in the community service, he said.
Chief Guest of the program Belman St. Joseph School Teacher B. Pundalika Marathe in his speech said that, the parents should have the willingness to encourage the children in the field of interest and the talents that they have. Talented will always get encouragement and respect in the society, he said. Students who are talented and made achievement in various field were felicitated on this occasion.
Kaup zone Samiti President William B. Machado gave introductory speech. Secretary Yugananda Shetty was present. Shirva zone President Sathish Devadiga welcomed. In his speech Rama Karkera – Director of the program briefed the plans of the Association. Secretary Sathish Devadiga read the report. Sharmila Acharya compeered the program. Children of tailors conducted cultural programs.
